Frequently Asked Questions
Can it provide hot water?
Yes, the Clarendon slow combustion wood heater can be optioned with a 5kW or 8kW boiler (hot water jacket) to provide domestic hot water or heat a few radiators/towel rails.
What fuel can I burn in the firebox?
The Clarendon is designed to burn dry, seasoned hardwood. Other solid fuels, including coal, should only be used where specifically permitted in the user manual and by local regulations. Wet, treated or unsuitable fuels should not be used, as they can reduce performance, increase creosote build-up and affect the longevity of the unit.
Why is my stove smoking?
This is often due to using wet or unseasoned wood, which prevents the fire from reaching optimal temperatures. It can also be caused by an incorrectly installed flue, too many bends in the pipework, or a lack of regular cleaning in the smoke pathways of this slow combustion wood stove.
How often should I clean it?
It is recommended to check and clean the flues and smoke pathways of the Thermalux Clarendon wood stove at least every six months to prevent creosote buildup.
