What people say
We purchased the Gourmet Cooker last century π and had installed October 1999.
We think it’s absolutely wonderful and it has kept the family warm (including our hot water) and cooked many meals over the 25 Tasmanian winters …π
I am absolutely thrilled with my new Gourmet stove. We fired it up last night and now have hot water, a warm room and I will be using the oven in a day or so. The moss green and black go perfectly in my kitchen. I was so pleased to find a stove manufactured in Australia. I think the Gourmet stove design is so much better than my old stove, as I have noticed already that it does not consume as much wood to heat the room as the whole stove radiates heat.
We wanted one appliance that could heat, cook and integrate with hydronics. WISELIVING was the only brand that could do it all and still look timeless in our farmhouse kitchen.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best wood to use?
For best performance and long-term durability, use only dry, seasoned Australian hardwood in the Gourmet Cooker. Do not burn coal, pellets, green wood, treated timber or other unsuitable fuels, as these can affect performance, damage the unit and may void your warranty.
How often should I clean it?
This slow combustion wood heaterβs flues and smokeways should be checked and cleaned at least every six months to help prevent creosote build-up and maintain safe, efficient operation. A dedicated Gourmet Cooker smokeway cleaning tool is available through your local dealer or by contacting WISELIVING.
Do I need a specialist for installation?
Yes. The Gourmet Cooker, which is one of the best Australian-made slow combustion wood heaters, must be installed by a qualified, licensed professional who can ensure the installation of the unit and the flue both meet local building regulations and issue the required compliance certificates.
How do I control oven temperature?
The Gourmet Cooker uses a unique venting system, along with responsive top and bottom air controls, to help manage fire intensity and oven temperature. As with all slow combustion wood stoves in Australia, temperature control will also depend on fuel quality, flue draft and operating technique.
