Description
The Thermalux Gourmet Cooker is a versatile wood-fired cooker and space heater designed for everyday cooking, heating and optional hot water. With a responsive firebox, generous hotplate and oven, and the capacity to heat spaces up to approximately 180mΒ², the Gourmet Cooker is well suited to lounge, dining, family room or kitchen settings where the stove can become a practical centrepiece of the home.

The Gourmet slow combustion wood heater features a large, easy-to-control firebox positioned directly beneath the cooktop for strong hotplate performance, with top and bottom air controls for responsive operation.
Its raised firebox position makes fuel loading easier, while the unique venting system allows for more controlled oven temperatures. This slow combustion wood stove includes a single oven with self-cleaning glass-windowed cast doors, a Metallic Black cooktop, and chrome spring handles.

The Gourmet is available as a dry unit, or with optional boiler configurations for domestic hot water, hydronic heating, or both. Boiler options include 5kW, 8kW and 15kW outputs, with the Gourmet CD offering approximately 15kW boiler output for central heating applications.

Supplied accessories: 1x Oven rack, 1x Stainless oven tray, 1x Ash scraper, 1x Smokeway cleaning tool, 1x Pair of fire gloves.
Customisation: Splashback, heat shields, flue kits, brass spring handles and decorative flue mesh options are available at additional cost.

The Gourmet comes standard with a Metallic Black cooktop. The remainder of the unit is available in the Pioneer colour range, including Metallic Black, Charcoal, Metallic Blue, Golden Fire Brown, Moss Green, Mauve, Mojave Red* and Surf Sand*.

What people say

We purchased the Gourmet Cooker last century πŸ˜„ and had installed October 1999.

We think it’s absolutely wonderful and it has kept the family warm (including our hot water) and cooked many meals over the 25 Tasmanian winters …πŸ˜ƒ

Jock Ferguson
Homeowner β€’ Launceston, TAS

I am absolutely thrilled with my new Gourmet stove. We fired it up last night and now have hot water, a warm room and I will be using the oven in a day or so. The moss green and black go perfectly in my kitchen. I was so pleased to find a stove manufactured in Australia. I think the Gourmet stove design is so much better than my old stove, as I have noticed already that it does not consume as much wood to heat the room as the whole stove radiates heat.

Jackie Smith
Homeowner β€’ Esperance, WA

We wanted one appliance that could heat, cook and integrate with hydronics. WISELIVING was the only brand that could do it all and still look timeless in our farmhouse kitchen.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best wood to use?

For best performance and long-term durability, use only dry, seasoned Australian hardwood in the Gourmet Cooker. Do not burn coal, pellets, green wood, treated timber or other unsuitable fuels, as these can affect performance, damage the unit and may void your warranty.

How often should I clean it?

This slow combustion wood heater’s flues and smokeways should be checked and cleaned at least every six months to help prevent creosote build-up and maintain safe, efficient operation. A dedicated Gourmet Cooker smokeway cleaning tool is available through your local dealer or by contacting WISELIVING.

Do I need a specialist for installation?

Yes. The Gourmet Cooker, which is one of the best Australian-made slow combustion wood heaters, must be installed by a qualified, licensed professional who can ensure the installation of the unit and the flue both meet local building regulations and issue the required compliance certificates.

How do I control oven temperature?

The Gourmet Cooker uses a unique venting system, along with responsive top and bottom air controls, to help manage fire intensity and oven temperature. As with all slow combustion wood stoves in Australia, temperature control will also depend on fuel quality, flue draft and operating technique.
